Bread, Roses and Hormones Speech at 2019 Trans, Two Spirit, Genderqueer, Intersex March; August 2, 2019

Bread, Roses and Hormones!

On Friday August 2nd, the 2019 Trans, Two Spirit, Genderqueer, Intersex March was held. The Trans, Two Spirit, Genderqueer, Intersex March is a yearly celebration where hundreds of queer and trans people take to the streets. It is organized as a response to marginalization of trans, two sirit, genderqueer, and intersex people at the corporate Pride parade. The following is a speech given by BRH member and organizing QoralMae after the march. Although there were other presentations including beautiful slam poetry and a great solo drag set, Mae was the only ‘performer’ to give a political rally speech.

My name is Mae Whitfield, I am a non-binary trans woman, a white Jewish settler, and I am speaking on behalf of Bread, Roses, and Hormones. Bread Roses Hormones is a campaign of anti-colonial and anti-capitalist revolutionary political organization Alliance Against Displacement

He has… Continue reading The Fascist “Undertone” of the Spanish Government’s Reaction to the Catalan Referendum for Independence (2017)

Different Emotion Work of the Vegan Activist

I read an article for my global politics course that I found on the notorious database network, JStor, which I have access to thanks to the school that I go to. I read the work of these two Swedes that did a sociological investigation on the emotion work that is involved in vegan activism. Their… Continue reading Different Emotion Work of the Vegan Activist

Fighters against Oppression, Unite!

It's difficult to find things genuinely funny and even to pretend to be in a general state of happiness, when you take your head out of the sand and make everything that you read on the news and the documentaries you watch, a reality. What scares me the most is that I am aware of… Continue reading Fighters against Oppression, Unite!
